A Journal Entry- 5 Years Ago
I recently found some old journal entries that I wrote 5 years ago in Tokyo. I don't write in one now, unless you count this blog as one. If I had a blog 5 years ago when living abroad was a new experience, I'm sure I would have written quite a bit. When I found the journal entries on a disc and read them, it brought back some good memories.
Here is one I wrote in July, 2000 just after leaving my job at a junior high school in Mushashimurayama, Tokyo- actually it is a translated written message I got from a student (Her last name has been deleted to protect the innocent) :
Here is a translation of a sayonara letter I got from an 8th grade student.....jk
***Yuriko K., 2-C No.35***
She worte in the first half, "Thank you very much.
Your English class was very interesting and you
are a very nice person. Please come to Japan again."..
and so on (common). Then she wrote: "P.S. This is
a little bit of a private matter...but...I heard
that some Americans play very bad tricks on
Picachu(Pokemon) on the Internet. I was really
disappointed to hear that. If it's possible, WOULD
YOU PLEASE LODGE A STRONG COMPLAINT AGAINST THOSE
RUDE GUYS? Johnnie sensei, you CAN DO it!! Yoroshiku
onegaishimasu. (But I don't want to bother you)."
